We recently got to try out Activision’s Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits. It was a lot of fun, and the kids got a kick out of it, especially since we don't have one for the Wii.
I wondered how you'd play it on the DS Lite, but it's pretty easy. The fret board just attaches to the DS expansion port (it has an adapter for DS) and you take the pick and go at it! You can take your rock star to fame and play fan requests along the way.
The kids played at the beach and we liked the 28 songs from artists such as Coldplay, Fall Out Boy, Tenacious D, Weezer, The Strokes and more. There's several fun venues and one of the best parts is that it can be streamed for a multi player mode (also shares songs with Guitar Hero: On Tour and Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades). Translated: they could play at the same time and not fight:
I'm still working on my skills, and I may or may not play on my own, I'll never tell. But, we've all enjoyed it!
