SONIC® Limeades for Learning Giveaway

Limeades.jpgAs the wife of a teacher, and someone with a possible SONIC® problem, I'm delighted to tell you about Limeades for Learning.

SONIC® America ’s Drive-In has partnered with DonorsChoose.org, a national leading non-profit Web site to fulfill projects requested by teachers to announce Limeades for Learning.

From August 31, to October 1, 2009, when you purchase a drink at SONIC you can participate in Limeades for Learning.

When you order a drink, each cup will be specially marked with a sticker that contains a unique code used to vote for a teacher project on www.LimeadesForLearning.com. Each week for five weeks, teacher projects with the most votes will be funded by SONIC up to $500,000.00. If customers want to continue to give, they will have an additional opportunity to donate money to their favorite teacher’s projects.

I think the digital storytelling classroom deserves the camera and software. I work in education and in technology and I know this is the wave of the future in the real world and in education. It is important to yeah students how it works at a young age so they can stay on the leading edge of up and coming technology.

I tweeter this but my Twitter is locked.

Adrienne Gordon:

I like the Read About Science request

Bryanna P.:

Thanks for the giveaway!...I love yer blog and would love to be a winner... =D

Margaret Smith:

The program that touches me the most is the "We've Outgrown Our Kindergarten Books-By A Lot!". I really feel that getting kids to read at the best is most essential to all future lessons.
This is so great that Sonic is promoting these programs.
Thanks.

Short Shelves for Short People! This Kindergarten classroom is located in the inner city and is high poverty. The students come to school every day ready to learn and for them to learn, they need to be able to reach the shelves for themselves.

Erica C.:

My favorite one was the Creating Forensic Scientists...this is a great program!

Vicky H.:

I like the Help Make Our Specials Special request since it helps out with art, music, and PE. I feel that the arts are an important part of children's creativity and intellect, and with obesity being a huge issue, I fully support their desire to fund their PE program.

Kiara:

I like the Creating Forensic Scientists.

Rebecca Graham:

I like the Show Me The Art! Project.

Claire:

Captured on Film.

Darlene T:

All the requests are worthy but I think I'd go with the bilingual kindergartners.

Carol Lawrence:

Paper Please! looks like a worthwhile project to raise paper for the students. jelly15301@gmail.com

Emily R.:

The Autism Sensory Room is a project I think is very important. Our 3 year old son has Autism and I agree that a sensory room can greatly help students with Autism.

Heather S:

I think the Show Me The Art! Project is important

Carol G:

It wouldn't come up for me today, but I looked at it for a different contest and liked one in particular--I am pretty sure the name was Ordinary Supplies for Special Students. However, must say that all of them have strong points.

Laura:

It was hard to choose just one, but I think the Musical Chairs is NOT a Fun Game All Day Long! is very important. Teachers are given so many students these days and it is vital that each child have a chair and table to sit at all day.

Stacy:

I think the request for white boards to help kids to learn Spanish is important.

I was drawn to the requests for books for older students - Of Mice & Men....House On Mango Street.

I was also beyond touched that one teacher asked for index cards. Index cards.

I like the digital backpacks (http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=282997&verify=-1335073003) project. It is a high poverty school and the project encourages the use of technology.

Linda Lansford:

book rack project

Carol :

The "What's Cooking, Good Looking" project is important, it will enable the teacher to teach cooking and kitchen skills:

"My students need kitchen supplies, including mixing bowls, porcelain cookware, a blender and teaspoons."

Alicia Webster:

I love Mrs. F's request "My students need 2 digital cameras in order to document their lives and create portfolios." What a beautiful idea! I hope that they get enough money to buy 30 digital cameras for their classroom!

The "Inspire Artists in 4th Grade!" grabbed my attention for a couple of reasons. It's a TN project and it's for fourth graders. I have an artsy, creative 4th grader myself, so I'm quite aware of what needs exist to adequately let her express herself.

Monique Rizzo:

The Spanish Educational one for Kids is great!! Thanks for the chance.

What's Cooking, Good Looking project is important, because i don't think there is much cooking being taught anymore

Christie:

I think understanding words, their proper use and spelling is important so I choose "Dictionary Divers".

Erma :

I think the requests for books for older students is awesome.

Justine:

I think it is important to contribute to the different autism requests like 'Autistic Students Want to Go to Science and Math Class'. This is because autism is getting very widely spread but is still very misunderstood and students who have this are not given the help they need to do the best they can. My son has high functioning autism and I have found it nearly impossible to get the assistance he needs and because of this school has been stressful. With the correct tools, students with autism can do it!!!

Jeanette H.:

Silverstein Seventh Grade Science Library.
My 7th grader loves science and I think everyone should see it the way she does.

Jammie:

I would go with the I spy ABC's. I home school my daughter and I agree hands on is the best way for a child to learn. To much book work makes the child un interested fast

Molly K:

I really like the Preschool Earth Scientists request. I think science is so important for children to learn. I think it is something that children take with them and it's so important to have the hands on learning.

amy:

wow so many of pages of things that are needed I had to choose at random as they all seem so important I chose A Classroom Without Curriculum
as it deals with children with autism. Thank you not only for the chance at the giveaway but heads up on this site - I will bookmark it, things are stretched thin right now but when we have some extra pennies...I'll know where to go.

Arla:

I chose Podcasting for Tigers because if I'm not mistaken that is a school within our district.

Amanda:

I like the Listen Up! proposal. Kids, people of all ages learn in different ways. Sound, audio books, etc. are such great resources. I think this is a very deserving proposal and they are very close to their goal.

Thank you! Sonic is so awesome for Limeades for Learning, thanks to them too. :)

The Growing Animals and Seeds! project would be great for children to learn about science and growing things.

susan smoaks:

i like the hurricane hunter request!

Crystal F:

Share A Chair
I think it's important because the big kids are having to sit in the small kid chairs. If you're uncomfotable you're not going to be able to concentrate on your school work. I think the big kids need some size appropriate chairs.

Thank you!

R Hicks:

I liked the classroom project "Scientists Need Libraries, Too!"

We need much better educated kids when it comes to science else people continue to believe in supernatural stuff

Ethnic Garden/Sustainable Stewardship is one program I hope succeeds.

My favorite is: Vertical Art Is So Close To My Heart! Which is for a Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities in a low socioeconomic school. This is so important because such programs are underfunded and often overlooked.

Lily Kwan:

The project that touched me the most is the one asking for computer desks for a special education classroom.
