Flu season is upon us, and I am delighted to participate in the Random Acts of Wellness campaign with The Motherhood and Walgreen's.
I know, I know...
You've never gotten the flu shot, and you've never been sick with the flu.
Please don’t fall for common misconceptions about the flu, (you won’t get the flu from the shot), it's a very serious illness, and that's a pretty big gamble to take for something that kills thousands of people each year.
The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months of age an older be vaccinated, but as always, check with your health care provider to make sure it's right for you.
October 1st is the beginning of flu season. Though the best times to get vaccinated are October and November, remember it’s never too late to do it.

I really don't have a good suggestion. The wife and daughter always get a flu shot... I never do. None of us has every gotten the flu (OK, not in the last 16 years anyway... I can't account for the wife before that time).
But I think Kelly and Linda have the best suggestion. Constant hand cleaning (not like OCD like, but vigilant) especially right after school/work is a good way to help improve your odds of remaining flu free.

I always have a bottle of hand sanitizer in the car for use after grocery carts, ATMs, doctors' offices, etc. And until you can get to your sanitizer, keep your hands away from your eyes, nose, and mouth. I like the sanitizer wipes, too. After using on your hands, you can run it around the steering wheel and other surfaces in the car that you frequently contact, or your cell phone. I may be a tad compulsive about it, but I never get sick.

I have a retail store, with lots of people contact. I use a lot of hand sanitizer!

We do quite a bit of handwashing. We also have hand sanitizer in each of our vehicles, carry in my purse

My best tip for Flu Prevention:
1.) Hand Sanitizer ALL THE TIME!!
2.) I use Lysol like crazy around my house this time of year.
3.) I take lots and lots of Vitamin C to boost my immune system.

Have you ever tried sinus rinsing? I swear by it. I do it everyday, even when i'm not sick and it keeps the bug away for the most part. if i manage to catch one...then i rinse twice a day until its gone and normally within a day or two i feel fine! try it!
