Electrolux Nimble vacuum cleaner review and giveaway

Electrolux%20Nimble.jpgWe are very hard on appliances around here, so when I was given the opportunity to review an Electrolux Nimble vacuum cleaner, I was very excited to put it to the test.

We live in an old house, so the rooms aren't huge and we have some wood flooring. I was interested in this particular vacuum because it touts "more swivel, less struggle", and it also easily switches between cleaning carpets and bare floors.

Some features of the Nimble:

- Smooth swivel steering makes cleaning around furniture easy.
- Powerful 12amp cyclonic technology provides a deep clean and provides no loss of suction!
- Unique VersaTool 3-in-1 tool cleans stairs and crevices with ease.
- Cleans carpet and bare floors faster than ever with the one-touch floor selector.

It's a bagless upright with a washable HEPA filter. It has a 30 ft long cord and weighs about 18 pounds.

The first thing we noticed is that the Electrolux Nimble is nearly ready to use right out of the box, you just snap a couple of things in and go.

Next, it really is "nimble". There's a swivel action at the base that allows you to change direction smoothly with less pulling back and forth, and you can get to hard to reach places.

And, it's (relatively) quiet! I was expecting something of this size to make a lot of noise, but it doesn't.

The wand attachment is really easy to use and releases quickly. It comes with 2 attachments. The 3-in-1 tool, the VersaTool changes shape to clean different surfaces, and a brush attachment. We do find we use the brush attachment a little more, but that may be just due to our particular needs. Also, there's built in edge/baseboard suction that really gets things clean up close.

But, what you probably really want to know is, "Does it have power"?

Yes, we've been very pleased. With pets and kids and different floor surfaces, we can really dish out the debris, and the Nimble has really handled it with a lot of power.

Be sure to check out the Electrolux Facebook page!

I am currently without a vacuum! Weve been using the shopvac and its literally backbreaking!!

The edge/baseboard suction would be awesome! We have two dogs and a cat so the pet hair is a booger around there.

Linda:

I think the VersaTool sounds like just what I need to get pet hair off our wooden stairs and underneath furniture. The one-touch floor selector sounds great too, as we're a combination hardwood and wall to wall carpeting household with 2 pets. Pick me, pick me!!!

My vacuum cleaner recently bit the dust. I have small rooms and would love the easy maneuverability and a vacuum that actually picks up dirt off the floor!

I tweeted: http://goo.gl/x21pj

Now, where's my vacuum? :)

I would love a vacuum cleaner that
a. actually works.
and b. doesn't require that I move ALL my furniture in order to actually clean under and around my furniture.

Please please please!

Jody:

The switcheroo from hard floor to carpet would be lovely! We are hard on sweepers around here too!

I love that it has a washable filter. They can be pricey!

Sadly we have a Roomba and I swear the dog hair on the two rooms that have carpet in our house (everything else is vinyl/hardwoods) is KILLING it. Sigh...

MJ:

I would love to win this. I had an Electrolux for years. When it was time to replace it, I misguidedly bought an Oreck. I keep hoping it will quit so I can get another Electrolux. This would answer my prayer!! My favorite feature would be that I can use it all over the house - carpet, hardwood floors as well as the tile!

I so need that wand attachment to suck the goldfish cracker bodies from between the soda cushions. And quiet means I can vacuum during my son's nap time. It's sad how excited that would make me.

Elisa:

I really need a new vacuum. We just bought a house and we're still fixing it up. We had an old one but it smells like wet dog and doesn't work well at all!

carolyn masek:

I have carpeting and hardwood floors and I hate having to change attachments to do the different surfaces. I might even vacuum MORE if I had this...it's possible, anyway.

amy324:

Sadly, I'd have to say that my favorite feature would be that it works. I think next would be that it is bagless. And if it really is quiet, that would be a super bonus. My kitties are terrified of the vacuum, and after I've used it, I don't see them for the rest of the day.

Erin:

I saw that vacuum in the store and it's pretty. But what would be awesome is that we have hard wood, rugs, 2 kids, and 3 cats so an easy to use vacuum that could handle all that would rock!

kim g:

I need the 14 feet of reach with the tools...I have a back injury & cleaning up high is really hard with my crummy old hand-me-down van. Would love to win one! :)

Holly Thomas:

You had me at the bagless & HEPA Filter.

Kathy T.:

Two hairy dogs and one barfing cat. That's why. :)

Thirty foot cord. Fighting with the shorter cords has made me curse on more than one occasion! The ease of stair cleaning is running a very close second for awesome feature award...

vodkamom:

The best feature? It would VACUUM my floors!!!!!!! I need this like you would NOT BELIEVE.

You had me at vacuum. Currently without one because I "loaned" mine to my darling daughter so she could clean her apartment (she has a pet dog and a pet RAT) before moving out and I don't want it back. Can you blame me??? I so need this. SO need it.

Every feature is better than the one I do not have now. :)

I put off vacuum shopping this weekend, but we REALLY need a new one! I can pick up more with my fingers than our old girl sucks up. I love the sound of "one-touch" from carpet to floor. Maybe I'm just lazy, but I hate switching the carpet/floor thingie and then carrying it around.

The "nimble" feature will help my kids vacuum better...I hope.

Bobbie:

I'm getting too old to carry my Kirby upstairs!

Rebecca:

Loving the idea that it can clean carpet AND bare floors. My house is about 50% of each. And now that my neurotic pregnant lady nesting is taking over, this would be just the thing to feed into the hysteria of preparing the house for a new baby... seeing how babies totally care that your baseboards are dusted and all.

Ooh, I need the baseboard suction!

Cleans FAST, lightweight... and it works!

I struggle with the carpeted stairs, so lightweight would be so very helpful. As would a vacuum that isn't ancient and has a working suction.

Jenn:

Are you kidding me? I am without a vacuum now. Living in a house with wood floors, carpet and tile, I need a versatile vacuum cleaner. This sounds perfect! I am willing to part with the family of dust bunnies that have taken up residence in my gameroom for this! And? My Dad and his new wife are coming to visit. Need I say more? ;)

Jenn:

I liked on FB. I tweeted (http://bit.ly/pgNOg1) I did a little known suburban vacuum dance to the cleaning goddess. I think I'm entered now. ;)

I love that it is bagless, cause I hate remembering to buy bags

Nisa:

The powerful motor would be great to help with all of my sons messes
:)

Nisa:

I retweeted about the contest!

Brigid Day:

i need a new vacuum now and to imagine myself with this one changing easily from hardwood to carpet would make my life easier. Bagless is such a good feature. What a great giveaway.

We have pets and both carpet and hardwood downstairs. I'm always looking for a vacuum that can do both!

I could really use this for the finished basement! We have tumbleweeds of pet hair floating from hardwoods onto carpets and concrete. The HEPA filter would be a big plus for Gameboy - with his many allergies & it is his job to clean down there.

The edge/baseboard suction would be super helpful. Feels like I spend way too much time trying to brush pet hair and dust out of that area before I vacuum.

I love that I could switch easily between carpet and wood floors. And I still don't have a vacuum with a HEPA filter, even though it would help my allergies. So I want that.

Christie:

The one touch height adjuster--going from carpet to hardwood to ceramic and over again can be a pain!

I like the fact that the Nimble can be used right out of the box. No fiddling with inserting rod 62 in hole b12.

I don't mind vacuuming - relatively easy task but I hate (HATE) the stairs because I have to get out the other vacuum to do those. It would be awesome to have it in one. Plus - who doesn't love a fancy grey vacuum?

I'd love the Nimble. I have four kids, hard wood plus carpet, plus stairs. 30 ft cord, 18 lbs, no bags = good match. Ha, almost sounds like a dating profile.

Jessica Stewart:

OMG. The feature I’m most interested in is - Powerful 12amp cyclonic technology. With our dog, I find it hard to keep up with the pet hair. We’ve gone through so many vacuums and it seems they never pick it all up. I NEED this.

I would love to be able to vacuum from carpet to the wood floors. Thanks for hosting this awesome giveaway! :)

The most useful feature is the fact that it works. I have two, barely-working vacuums at the moment, and with six kids, I'm screwed. LOL :)

The sucking feature! My vacuum just died, doesn't suck at all...

I need something that switches easily for different types of floors. My house as it all, hardwoods, tile, wall to wall carpet and area rugs, so an easy switcheroo is important as I make my way around the house.

Oh my goodness. I NEED this! 2 kids under 10, 1 GIANT bull mastiff, carpeting, hardwood and a hunting/fishing hubby - my floors take SUCH a beating!!

I have a vacuum and it's just not doing the job anymore. Is it wrong that I dream of appliances? :-)

I tweeted about it as well.

@MommylandMychal

EEEk - the washable filter.. do you KNOW what giant bull mastiff dog hairs do to filters?

(sorry - hit enter too soon)

I'd love that wand attachment. I am always picking up little crumbs after my daycare kids.

marina:

The swivel action looks like a feature that would be easy on the back eso if you have back issues

Jeanette Jackson:

The wand attachment would be very helpful to me.

Jeanette Jackson:
Amy:

I have a 3 year old. If that's not enough , I have a husband and if you need more...I have off white carpet that needs to be vacuumed daily!
