Tips from Bob Greene and a $150 #Fit WithOmron giveaway

OMR11208_BloggerBadge.jpgYou may recall I'm part of a Blogger Fitness Challenge with Omron.

I've been wearing the Omron HJ-112N Pocket Pedometer for a few weeks now with the goal of increasing my steps each day.

I've really been amazed at how much (or little) I walked in an average day. Tracking my steps makes me much more conscious of walking more and moving more in my day to day activities.

I've even been pretty consistent in reaching the recommended 10,000 steps daily! It's interesting what you can do when you concentrate on it!

My good friend, Bob Greene, answered a couple of questions for me about getting more activity in during the day.

For real, THE Bob Greene, and he was TALKING TO ME!

He gave me some suggestions for being more active when I spend a lot of the day at work or at kids' activities.

Amanda Sakovitz:

what seems to work for me is to schedule an exact time that i am going to being my work out because it forces you to get up, leave what you're doing if possible and just get it over with.

Rosanne :

I make sure to schedule everything around my set workout class or sometimes break up the time into two different times

Elizabeth Ray:

My calendar lists all classes at the gym, plus scheduled time for my daily run. If I don't want to do it, I just remind myself that my trainer wil 'beat me half to death" the next time I see her if I skip it.

Michelle H.:

On weekends when running errands, I try to park as far away from the door as I can to force myself to walk just a bit more than normal. At home during the week, I turn up the tunes and shake a bit of booty when I'm cleaning. It makes the time go by a bit faster and makes cleaning a bit more fun.

Cynthia C:

I get up early and walk every morning before the busy day starts.

Adrienne gordon:

you can find time anytime anywhere to do something active.

My best tip is that even on your busiest days, you can still march in place for 15 minutes and burn at least 100 calories! If I haven't had time to workout, I do this in the event while watching tv!
